CHANGING THE FACE OF PUBLISHING

Traditional publishing is broken because it prioritizes profit over people. That means the marketability of a book is more important than its substance, readers are treated like walking pocketbooks, and authors rarely receive the royalties they deserve.

Tower Room aims to change that.

Instead of telling readers what to buy, our Community chooses what books we publish.

Instead of paying 10-15% royalty, our authors earn 50% plus end-of-year profit share.

Instead of prioritizing shareholder value and profits, Tower Room aims to be sustainable only. Our responsibility is to our readers and authors, NOT to shareholders.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

  • People over Profit

Authors make a living. The publisher is sustainable rather than growth-driven. Net profit (Gross - CODB) is redistributed to authors, with artist bonuses for successful titles

  • Quality over Quantity

We only publish what we’re proud of. We don’t acquire books simply to pad our catalog or take advantage of market trends and we don’t publish books before they’re ready.

  • Impact over Income

We aren’t publishing books just to make money; we publish because storytelling matters. Our readers decide what gets published, and that means we don’t have to bend to market pressure. We publish the meaningful stories readers want.

  • Collaboration over Competition

Authors are part of a community that uplifts, supports, and champions one another’s books. A slower publishing pace means each book gets more attention and support. Readers form the core of the community because their support is what brings our authors' books to life.

  • Merit over Marketability

The traditional publishing industry relies on acquiring what is proven to sell, not on what has literary merit. They are risk-averse because their primary fiduciary responsibility is to their shareholders. Ours is to our readers. That means we have the freedom to only accept and publish work with true merit, both literary and thematic, as well as to champion marginalized voices.

Reader-First Ethos

Readers don’t have to be “sold to” when they love the story. Instead of convincing readers of what to buy, we publish what they vote for.

Readers will crowd-fund the books of their choice, and even have access to a Digital Dashboard that proves Tower Room is transparent with spending–you'll always know where your money goes.

A HALFLING'S GUIDE TO HOME REPAIR

Halfling Finnegan Hornsby isn’t cut out to be a farmer. But he is brilliant at designing homes for the noble families of Dorn—so brilliant that he’s one design away from a partnership at the city’s top architecture firm. That is, if he can survive the unexpected tragedy that drags him back to the countryside he swore he’d left forever.

To dispose of his inheritance and return to the city before his promotion slips away, Finn must fulfill the terms of his estranged father’s magical will: live in a crumbling cottage on the edge of a dying village for a whole year…or restore the cottage and sell it.

Unfortunately for Finn, the stubborn old cottage has no intention of being sold. It fights back, forcing him to seek help from a rag-tag bunch of villagers who have their own battles to fight.

With a family of werewolves, a nosy neighbor, and a pig named Beef on his side, progress looks hopeful. But some cracks run deep, and homes are easier to repair than hearts.

Big Fish meets HGTV in the Shire, this cozy fantasy is filled with whimsy, heart, and a cast of broken characters learning to rebuild together.
